“THE WORD OF GOD BRINGS COMFORT TO SOLDIERS.”
Military Bibles help Regular Force service members, Reservists, and veterans to find hope in often difficult circumstances. When and wherever the Canadian military serves, bibles are available for them, from the First World War to Afghanistan and beyond.
In 1914, the Canadian Bible Society (CBS) began distributing the Scriptures to Canadian soldiers. By the end of the Second World War, 434,000 New Testaments were distributed to the Canadian military in 18 different languages. In 2018, distribution expanded to include the Canadian Army, Navy, Air Force and Cadet training camps. Photos below show different bibles military personnel carried and a 1944 Church program.
