Museum – Collection
The 38 Service Battalion Combat Service Support (CSS) Museum is located in Rooms 121/122 at Minto Armouries, 969 St. Matthews Avenue, Winnipeg. The CSS Museum displays several hundred artifacts pertaining to Service Battalions, and their predecessor units, including items of general military interest.
The purposes of the museum collection are to:
- Provide and to maintain a unit museum by collecting, compiling, researching, recording and displaying historical artifacts as well as by educating the public about the history of the Canadian Armed Forces in general and the Service Battalion in particular.
- Preserve the history of the Service Battalion and founding units or corps through the collection of documents, pictures, books, military artifacts, etc. pertaining to the founding units from approximately 1900 forward.
- Provide an area to research Service Battalion and military history.
- Stimulate and foster an interest in the Service Battalion, its activities and its accomplishments.

The donation of worthwhile material to the museum by both individuals and organizations is encouraged. Substantive artifact gifts received by the Senate on behalf of the Museum, eligible for an income tax deductible receipt in accordance with the provisions of the Canada Revenue Agency, may need to be appraised.
The history of Service Battalions and founding units are preserved through the collection of artifacts relating to:
- The original Winnipeg Service Battalion (1 Jan 65)
- The Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (RCASC)
- The Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps (RCOC)
- The Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps (RCAMC)
- The Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME)
- The Canadian Provost Corps (C Pro C)
- The Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC)
Artifacts from units that served under administrative command of the Service Battalion (e.g. Intelligence section, Medical Company, Military Police Platoon) are also displayed.

The CSS Museum is open year-round on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday evenings by appointment from September to early June for visitors.
