Force Mobile Command Badge. This badge is a white square on its point (in a diamond shape) with a red border. In the centre is a red maple leaf superimposed on four blue arrows pointing to the four directions.

History: The badge symbolism appears to represent a preparedness to move in any direction. The badge was initially worn as a cloth patch on each sleeve. Later it was produced as a metal badge for wear on the right breast pocket.

Formation. Force Mobile Command referred to Canada’s land forces following integration of the three services in the 1960s. It was formed in June 1965 as one of six Commands resulting from the integration of the three services. The initial phase of integration was achieved through an amendment to the National Defence Act approved in 1964. Final and formal abolition of the Royal Canadian Navy, Air Force and Army as separate services came with the Canadian Forces Reorganization Act, which became law in February 1968. Force Mobile Command was re-named Land Force Command in the 1990s.
