Camp Hughes: Prelude to Victory
On 13 February 24, the Service Battalion Senate, Inc. launched a 20-minute documentary entitled “Camp Hughes: Prelude to Victory.” The video features Camp Hughes, a military training site near Carberry, MB, which played a prominent role in preparing Manitoba and Saskatchewan soldiers for service in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. The video emphasizes the role played by combat service support soldiers in supporting camps that involved thousands of soldiers training at Camp Hughes during the war years.
Fifty-four attendees at the documentary launch included over 30 troops from 17 Service Company, several Senate members and spouses, the provincial Special Envoy for Military Affairs, David Pankratz, and the City of Winnipeg Military Liaison, Shawn Dobson.
