SUMMARY:Afghanistan Memorial Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:On 27 October 24, five Senate members attended a ceremony at the LCol Harcus Strachan, VC, MC Armoury to unveil a Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) III used by the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan. The memorial acknowledges the sacrifice of 158 military deaths and the service of approximately 40,000 Canadian Forces members from 2001 – 14. Senate members B. Gillis, D. Steenson and J. Helgeson (not shown) are Afghanistan veterans.
